Research interests

I am CEO at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne, and Adjunct Professor with Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. I have led Zealandia’s restoration efforts, and as a restoration ecologist I am always looking for interesting projects that advance the field. I also have research interests in socio-ecological systems, and have authored leading research on now nature affects physical, mental and social wellbeing.

Supervision

I am looking for PhD and Masters students interested in:

  • Ecological restoration of sanctuaries and catchments (particularly for and related to birds)
  • Connections between people and nature
  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi in a conservation context
  • Health and wellbeing benefits from nature.
