Tutor vacancies

View current vacancies for tutor positions in the School of Arts and Media.

Expressions of interest are invited from university graduates to work part-time as tutors in undergraduate English, Film, Theatre, Media and Communication, and Art History courses.

It is expected that successful applicants will have an Honours degree or higher. Applications are particularly encouraged from current and intending postgraduate students.

Tutoring responsibilities

Tutoring roles typically involve the following set of basic responsibilities:

• Preparation for tutorials (including readings and exercises).
• Delivery of scheduled tutorials.
• Attendance at lectures.
• Availability for specified student consultation each week during teaching times.
• Marking of student work.
• Meetings with other tutors and the Course Coordinator.

Tutorials are usually one hour in duration and generally comprise up to 20-25 students depending on enrolment numbers. A limited number of courses operate on a workshop model of two-hour workshops.

Tutor training

We do our best to help all tutors feel confident and supported in their tutoring roles. New tutors will receive full paid training to help them get started.

When completing the application form, you will be prompted to upload your CV and a cover letter. Please indicate your reason for applying, what value you could add, and any previous or relevant experience.

Returning tutors are encouraged to submit a new application form each year but will not be required to complete all sections.

Applications received before the dates below will be considered for the relevant trimester.
