Te Herenga Waka in top 100 global universities for sustainability

Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington has been ranked in the top 100 internationally in the QS World University Rankings for Sustainability.

Evaluating universities based on social impact, environmental impact, and governance, the ranking provides a unique and detailed framework to assess how universities are taking action to tackle the world’s most pressing global challenges.

The University’s rank has gone up by 35 places internationally since last year’s results, now sitting at 81st equal out of a total 1,403 institutions across 95 countries, and from 4th to 3rd equal in New Zealand.

‘Environmental Education’, ‘Equality’, and ‘Good Governance’ are areas in which the University shines, reflecting our commitment to all aspects of sustainability. The University continues to grow environmental sustainability-focussed curriculum content with 125 courses on offer across all faculties. The University’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work programme is supporting and shifting the composition of staff and students to reflect the diversity of the country. The University is committed to leadership and governance that is accessible, representative, transparent and includes a dedicated sustainability team.
