Te Herenga Waka Marae
Te Herenga Waka Marae is part of the University’s commitment to te reo Māori and tikanga Māori and is central for whānau on campus.
Located on our Kelburn campus, Te Herenga Waka Marae provides a tūrangawaewae (a place where Māori custom prevails) for the students and staff of the University to promote, disseminate, and maintain the use of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori.
Following a whakamoe ceremony on 26 April 2021 in preparation for construction of the Living Pā, the Marae is currently closed until 2023. No bookings can be made for teaching or other activities. If you require information about mihi whakatau, contact Tu Temara at firstname.lastname@example.org.
