Philosophy programme prizewinners

The Philosophy Programme has prizes for the top undergraduate student majoring in Philosophy and completing their Bachelor of Arts and for the top student completing their Honours degree in Philosophy. Each prize is named for a former member of staff, Maurice Goldsmith.

Framed photographs of each of the winners are on display at the Philosophy Programme premises (6th floor, Murphy Building, Kelburn Parade). Further details about these prizes may be found on the University’s Scholarships and Prizes website.

In 2020 a new prize was added, the Shaun Hopkins Memorial Prize in Logic, awarded to the best student in the Philosophy Programme’s ‘Introduction to Logic’ course. The prize was established in honour of a former PhD student in Philosophy at Victoria University of Wellington.
