John F Kennedy Prize in American History
This prize was established in 2004 via the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation to encourage excellence in the study of American history and the history of the relationship between New Zealand and the United States of America.
The prize is awarded annually to the student in History who, in the year of the award, has completed an essay or a thesis on an aspect of American history, or the history of New Zealand-United States relations, and who is judged to be the best student of the year and most worthy of the award.
The prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations in consultation with the academic staff and Head of the History Programme.
The value of the prize is determined after consideration of the income from the fund. The balance of income not expended shall be added to the fund.
Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks, which will be forwarded appropriately.
