Reimagining public value
The Policy Hub collaborated with the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE) to run a series of five workshops in 2023.
At these workshops senior public servants and academics shared their perspectives on how the public service could design policy options to maximise public value.
Participants considered how New Zealand should best respond to the challenges emerging from the ‘polycrisis’—the interrelated challenges of climate change, an ageing population, and the emergence of new technology.
The series addressed the following questions:
- How do we balance different interests, including our interests today and the interests of future generations?
- What systems do we need to hold publicly funded organisations to account to deliver value?
- What different policy tools do we need to deliver value in the context of these challenges?
