Graduate Diploma of Teaching Programme - Secondary

First half-year

12 February – Programme commences

12 February – 14 February – Ngā Mihi: campus-based, block course (compulsory for all kaiako tauira)

10 March – 14 March – Professional Practice 1 (observation week): 1 - week full-time  observation placement in schools

14 April – 25 April – School holidays and Mid-tri programme break

05 May – 13 June – Professional practice 2: 6 - full-time placement in schools, preceded by one day in school (DIS) - On Tuesday in the week of 28 April

27 June – First half-year programme concludes

Second half-year

14 July – 22 August – Programme re-commences

25 August – 31 October – Professional practice 3: 8 - week full-time placement in schools (school holiday break September 22 - 03 October), preceded by four days in school (DIS) - on Mondays and Tuesdays in the weeks of 11 August and 18 August

01 December – 05 December – Wānanga Week: campus-based, block course (compulsory for all kaiako tauira).

05 December – Programme concludes

Master of Teaching and Learning Programme -  Secondary

First half-year

3 February – Programme commences - Initial Week in school (Monday - Wednesday)

12 February – 14 February – Ngā Mihi: campus-based, block course (compulsory for all kaiako tauira).

17 February -  07 March - 3-4 days in school/observation, relationship building/and self-directed study

10 March – 14 March – Professional practice 1: 1 - week full-time placement in school

17 March – 11 April –  In school 3-4 days per week and self-directed study

14 April - 25 April – School holidays and Mid-tri programme break

28 April - 02 April – In school 3-4 days per week and self-directed study

05 May - 13 June – Professional practice 2: 6 - week full-time placement in swap school

16 June - 27 June – In school 3-4 days per week, and self-directed study

30 June - 11 July – School Holidays and University break (holiday for kaikao tauira)

Second half-year

14 July – Programme recommences.

14  July - 22 August  -  In school 3-4 days per week, and self-directed study

25 August – 31 October – Professional practice 3: 8 - full-time placement in schools (school holiday break September 22 - 03 October).

03 November - 28 November -  In school 3-4 days per week, and self-directed study
