Calligraphy competition

Showcase your calligraphy skills and celebrate the beauty of Chinese culture at the New Zealand Chinese Calligraphy Competition.

The NZ Chinese Calligraphy Competition is organised by the Confucius Institute at the University of Canterbury and is open to all students studying at a New Zealand school or tertiary institutions. Both native and non-native speakers of Chinese are welcome to enter. Winning entries are collected and published by Confucius Institute at the University of Canterbury in a book.

The calligraphy competition accepts both hard and soft brush calligraphy works in any style and with content of your choice. Participants are encouraged to choose poems, songs or blessings that represent traditional Chinese culture.

The deadline for the 2025 competition submissions is 26 June 2025.
