Professor Regan Potangaroa’s research has been disastrous—because it looks at post-disaster reconstruction and the relationship between technical demands and social considerations. Based on his research overseas and his extensive experience working with Māori in New Zealand, Professor Potangaroa argues that engineering has enormous potential to address intractable social issues.
