Many scholarships are available for students at Victoria University of Wellington, through the Scholarships Office.

The office maintains the scholarships database, a comprehensive searchable database listing all available scholarships with criteria, value, tenure and closing dates. Most application forms can be downloaded from this database. For best results when searching the database, keep the search terms broad.

The office also welcomes enquiries from students and staff. Contact them by email or drop in to 10 Kelburn Parade between 8.00am and 4.30pm.

Undergraduate scholarship: science communication

This scholarship supports students entering their first year of study, towards either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Communication, majoring in Science Communication.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • intending to enrol in their first year of undergraduate study at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington
  • intending to enrol in a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Communication, majoring in Science Communication.

Selection criteria

This scholarship offer is conditional on the recipient gaining University Entrance and being fully enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Communication, majoring in Science Communication.

Applicants will be assessed on academic merit, their personal statement, and their character reference.

School of Science in Society awards

The Tily Prize

This prize arises from a bequest by Harry Smith Tily in 1970 to assist students who shall make a special study of the scientific method.

The prize is awarded to a student graduating with a Bachelor of Science who has the best record in the courses required for the minor in Science in Society.

The prize is awarded annually on the recommendation of the Head of School of the School of Science in Society. No application is required.
