Student Athlete Network
The Student Athlete Network recognises the difficulties associated with balancing competitive sport and study. The network aims to help students juggle these demands through practical assistance, development opportunities, and a supportive community.

We are committed to supporting our athletes by offering a variety of sporting scholarships to assist students with the financial demands they face.
Our sports scholarships page is updated regularly, and students are encouraged to also search through the central scholarships database for other opportunities.
Athlete friendly living
Athlete friendly living options aim to offer a supportive and positive living environment for students pursuing competitive sport alongside tertiary study.
OBU Rugby Academy
The OBU Rugby Academy is a partnership programme between Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and the OBU Rugby Club, proudly supported by the Jack Jeffs Charitable Trust. The Academy is a multi-faceted programme focused on the holistic development of student rugby players.

University Running Hub
The University is in the initial phase of developing a Running Hub, an environment that supports students who are performance middle distance runners to connect and develop.
The intention of the Hub is to facilitate these athletes coming together to share their experiences as student runners and support one another; it aims to provide opportunities that complement existing club and training commitments.

As a committed member of the High-Performance Sport NZ Athlete Friendly Tertiary Network, the University provides carded and identified athletes with additional support and guidance to stay on track.
