Wellington Regional "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition

Wellington Regional "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition

Date: 2 May 2015 Time: 9.00 am

The “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition (汉语桥) has become a highlight on the Confucius Institute events calendar. This annual event is intended to encourage more students to learn Chinese language and culture, and help students improve their Chinese speaking ability by competing with their peers in a friendly, fun environment. This year’s Wellington Regional Competition will be held on Saturday 2 May at the Kelbun Campus of Victoria University.

The Chinese Bridge Speech Competition will be held at three levels, i.e. at regional level in Wellington, at national level in Christchurch and at international level in China. Winners of the Regional Competition will be invited to take part in the National Competition in Christchurch on 16 May 2015. A same day return airfare will be covered by the organisers. Winners of the National Competition will be invited to represent New Zealand in the Final in China. International airfare and accommodation in China will be covered by the Confucius Institute Headquarters.

Not only is this an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their Chinese language proficiency and to take a chance at winning a trip to China, it is also a gateway to various Confucius Institute scholarships to study in China. We welcome all interested schools to register year 7 to 13 and tertiary students, representing their school at this exciting Competition!

 Registration: closes 22 April 2015
