The Confucius Institute at VUW organised a Discover China! workshop in two Wellington based schools: Scots College and Samuel Marsden Collegiate. Instructor Ping Ching Mabbet, whose voluntary services have been recognized by the Queen’s Service Medal, offered an introduction to Chinese painting and Chinese calligraphy. Students of Chinese language teachers Kevin Qin (Scots College) and Jing Ying Herrington (Samuel Marsden Collegiate) are actively involved in Chinese culture and language initiatives. Students of both schools competed in the 2012 Chinese Bridge Speech Competition and continue to develop their Chinese language skills. Interested schools who wish to organise a Discover China!
