Tourism student Alex Gadd won best poster prize in the Management / Marketing and International Business / Government academic group with her poster "Understanding the drivers of dissatisfaction among visitors to Department of Conservation campgrounds".

Alex's research analysed online feedback survey data from eight DOC campgrounds, leading to recommendations on how to increase camper's satisfaction and encourage more visitors to engage in recreation.

The project has added a range of skills that are proving valuable in completing her Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) degree this year, and Alex plans to work with DOC for her Honours dissertation.

DOC's Science Advisor Social Science (Visitors) Michael Harbrow said that Alex had made a valuable contribution to the Department's work.

"She was enthusiastic and hard working, and we really enjoyed hosting her within our team. We gained a lot from the fresh thinking and different approaches she was able bring to the project."

Hosted and partly funded by the Department of Conservation, Alex's project was supervised by Michael Harbrow at DOC, and Karen Smith and Adam Weaver in the School of Management.
