Emeritus Professor appointments

Two School of Management distinguished Victoria scholars have been awarded the status of Emeritus Professor.

Emeritus Professor Lawrence Corbett

Professor Lawrie Corbett became a member of staff at Victoria in 1984 as a lecturer in operations, service and quality management.

He was one of the early directors of the Victoria MBA programme and worked to substantially increase student enrolments through his knowledge of the quality process that drove a range of initiatives to monitor and improve the curriculum and teaching.

Lawrie has supervised numerous postgraduate students and been published extensively in leading journals.

He forged a strong reputation with key stakeholders in the manufacturing sector and government, and also served on the University Leave Committee and the Faculty of Commerce Leave Committee.

Professor Douglas Pearce joined Victoria in 2000 and since then he has cemented his position as a globally recognised scholar in tourism management.

He has led the Tourism Management Group with distinction, taking it to the position of the leading tourism management group in New Zealand.

He initiated and obtained TedQual accreditation for the tourism management programme.

Doug has more than 30 years teaching, research and consulting experience, has formed valuable research collaborations across the tourism sector, and also supervised numerous graduate students.

Doug serves on the editorial boards of a number of leading tourism journals, has published extensively in journals, edited a wide range of works and written a number of books and book chapters. He is a fellow and former Vice-President of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism
