VBS Excellence Awards - SoM recipients

Victoria Business School's top graduates, accompanied by friends and family, gathered in the Victoria Council Chambers along with staff and sponsors to celebrate the third annual Victoria Business School Excellence Awards.

Victoria Business School's top graduates, accompanied by friends and family, gathered in the Victoria Council Chambers along with staff and sponsors to celebrate the third annual Victoria Business School Excellence Awards.

The awards were established to acknowledge the achievements of the best and brightest VBS students across all business disciplines – Accounting, Commercial Law, Taxation, Economics, Finance, Management, Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, Tourism Management, Marketing, International Business, e-Commerce, Information Systems and Public Policy.

Top graduates from the School of Management were:

Cassandra Ong:  Financial Markets Authority Award for Management

The ceremonies on May 13 also saw presentations of the Dean's Awards for Doctoral Achievement, which recognises the quality of research and writing of PhD thesis.

Host for the evening, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Commerce Professor Bob Buckle, congratulated the award-winning students.

"These awards acknowledge the years of hard work and commitment that you have dedicated to your education. It is a great achievement. I wish you the very best and hope that you will keep us informed of your progress."

Professor Buckle expressed his gratitude to sponsors who had partnered with VBS to provide additional named prizes.

"Thank you for partnering with us to recognise our graduates and contributing to giving them the best start possible. It is wonderful that the business sector value our graduates."

The awards were presented by Professor Frazer Allan, Victoria University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor – Engagement, who commended the winners as "fine representatives of Victoria".

"For those of you considering the exciting possibility of postgraduate study, I wish you every success. For those about to embark on their chosen career, the world is at your feet, good luck and we look forward to hearing of your amazing exploits in the future," he said.

Professor Allan also thanked sponsors who had partnered with VBS to provide additional named prizes.

"Events such as this one highlight the importance of Victoria Business School's external partnerships and its position at the intersection between the public, private and community sectors."
