"Cracking into the HR"

At the end of April Victoria HR students were invited to attend a Human Resource Institute NZ (HRINZ) event "Cracking into the HR". The event was hosted by Victoria graduate Kourosh Asghari an HR Advisor and Tertiary Liaison from HRINZ who has experienced the challenges of the employment market for HR graduates in Wellington. The session was aimed at giving practical information and advice to students wanting to pursue a career in HR. Four young HR professionals discussed their experiences working in HR and imparted advice on how to get work in the industry, this was supplemented by a senior recruitment professional providing real insight into his experiences. Students then had the opportunity to meet and talk to the speakers over drinks and pizza. Kourosh felt the event went really well with great conversations being had and many staying well past the planned 7pm finish.  Plans are underway for more events to connect HRIR students with practitioners.
