Profile

Dr David Bromell has worked in senior policy advice roles in central government (2003–2013) and local government (2013–20). He has been a Senior Associate of the Institute for Governance and Policy Studies (2008–2023). He contributes to Policy Quarterly and has been a member of the editorial board since 2010. He co-taught GOVT539 (Philosophy, Politics and Public Policy) with Prof. Jonathan Boston in the years this course was offered from 2012–2020.

He has been an Adjunct Senior Fellow in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Canterbury (2017–2023) and has held visiting research fellowships at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies in Bochum, Germany (2020–2021); the NRW School of Governance in Duisburg, Germany (2016); the Centre for Theology and Public Issues, University of Otago (2011); Ormond College, University of Melbourne (1999); and the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas (1988). He lives in Christchurch.
