Research ranked as the best in New Zealand

Announced yesterday was the excellent news that Victoria University is the top ranked research University in New Zealand.

The evaluation is based on Performance Based Research Funding (PBRF) data made available yesterday by the Tertiary Education Commission. The data was generated by a qualitative review of research performance by academic staff from 2006 to 2012, and the key measure of average quality score saw VUW overtake the University of Auckland and the University of Otago in the research rankings.

The Faculty of Architecture and Design, in line with the rest of the University, has significantly increased its performance.

The average quality score of 4.3 for the faculty represents a 35% increase from 2006, with 49% of academic staff being ranked as leading researchers in their field.
