Professor Garth Fletcher has been appointed Head of School of Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington. He has been at Victoria since 2011, and moves into the role after a year as Deputy Head of School for Psychology.

Professor Fletcher says he is excited to be involved in helping to further build on a prestigious psychology programme for Victoria.

“We need to build on previous success and in particular face expansion challenges both within the School and the University”.

Professor Fletcher’s interests are broad and interdisciplinary, but he specialises in the science of romantic relationships from a social psychological and evolutionary perspective.

He has over 100 publications including five books, and is a fellow of five scientific societies including the Royal Society of New Zealand. Professor Fletcher will take up his duties as Head of School on February 1, 2015.
