Debasree Ghosh

Debasree Ghosh is currently pursuing her PhD in the School of English, Film, Theatre and Media studies at Victoria University of Wellington.

Debasree Ghosh is currently pursuing her PhD in the School of English, Film, Theatre and Media studies at Victoria University of Wellington. Her research explores the ambivalent attitude towards colonialism in children’s writing during the British Raj, with a focus on Indian writers.

She studied at the Department of English, Jadavpur University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English Literature. Subsequently, she received the Ministry of Education Teaching Scholarship from the government of Singapore, and completed Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education, Singapore.

She taught the Singapore-Cambridge General Paper at Anglo-Chinese Junior College until 2015, has also worked as a creative writing facilitator at The Creative Arts Institute in Kolkata, and has taught the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

Her interest lies in writing, and she has published a selection of her poetry. She is also interested in historical studies, languages and theatre.
