For their assessment, students in groups were allocated a historical film movement to remake an existing twenty-first century Hollywood film in the style of this movement. After researching the film movement, they produced a 3-4 min video that is either a ‘recut’ of the original footage or a ‘sweded’ film.

Student work

One group recut a sequence from Pacific Rim in the style of the German expressionist movement which was based just after the First World War.

"I myself composed the soundtrack as part of my input in the group project. This was a great experience as I was able to get a sense of what it was like to work in a team for a film project. As an aspiring film score composer, this was a vital experience to obtain," says student Jack England.
