One-off research fund provides support for creative projects

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) has funded five creative projects with a one-off Creative Arts Strategic Research Fund.

“The creative arts are such an important element of our university, and it is crucial that we support productions, performances and other creative research outputs,” says Professor Kevin Dew.

“The aims of this fund included raising the visibility of the prestigious creative artists in FHSS and enhancing the University’s creative arts reputation”.

The assessing panel—Professor Damien Wilkins (International Institute of Modern Letters), Associate Professor Sarah Ross (School of English, Film, Theatre, and Media Studies), Professor Samantha Owens (New Zealand School of Music) and Professor Kevin Dew (Associate Dean—Research, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences)—were impressed with the range and quality of applications from the different schools.

Congratulations to the following successful applicants who will receive up to $15,000 each:

  • Dr Emily Beausoleil (HPPI)—Economy & Agency: Civic designs to foster listening regarding unjust systems
  • Dr Jane Curry (NSZM)—Amelkina commission and recording a solo programme
