Faculty lecturers in the news

Research carried out by Faculty of Education lecturers has generated interest in the media recently.

Following a press release on the success of the Whakapiki i te Reo project, developed by lecturers in Te Kura Māori (see International Award for Excellence received by Faculty of Education lecturers article below), Faculty of Education lecturer Tabitha MacKenzie was interviewed on TV One's Te Karere.

Dr Azra Moeed's PhD research showing that achieving NCEA credits is taking priority over authentic scientific investigation for Year 11 science teachers and their students has also been picked up by the media ( Assessment regime encourages superficial learning, media release 17 January 2011). The publication of Dr Moeed's research coincided with the announcement by Auckland Grammar School not to offer NCEA in Year 11 in favour of the University of Cambridge's international exams, resulting in many regional newspapers featuring articles about NCEA and Dr Moeed's research findings.
