Ken Freer


With over twenty years of senior marketing and management experience across the travel, financial services and government sectors, Ken has worked in several international markets including China, the United States, Europe, Australia and Fiji.

Ken has held travel industry marketing leadership roles at Tourism New Zealand, Tourism Fiji and House of Travel, working to better understand and grow both inbound and outbound tourism, and has been internationally awarded for his work.

In his current role, leading the South Alibaba programme at Christchurch Airport, Ken is tasked with growing the success of New Zealand businesses in the Chinese market – attracting more high value FIT guests, growing their geographic dispersal around the country, and providing opportunities for New Zealand businesses to sell more goods and services to these guests, before, during and after their trip.
