2018 study tour

Learn about the experience of students on the 2018 tour of India.

Victoria MBA students participating in the 2018 International Study Tour visited India, a country that has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies in the world for the past two decades, thus becoming a region critical for New Zealand's future.

The week-long study aims to advance understanding on global business practices, gain insight into people and cultures overseas, and to build global connections and networks.

The groups visited destinations in southern India like Kochi (Cochin) in Kerala and Chennai (Madras) in Tamil Nadu, blogged different aspects of their experiences and a round-up of their reports is linked here.

One of the visiting group created a video overview (below) of the trip and some of their highlights.

Tourism in Kerala

Day 1 of our MBA Tour began in Kerala – "God’s own country" as the locals call it – and with a focus on tourism, we set a course for the region's backwaters.

Social responsibility

For many in our group this was the most exciting day of the tour, filled with children, laughter, singing, dancing, music, and tiling in 100% humidity.

Banking in rural India

You live in rural India, you trade produce for cash, cash for living – so why the government push for you to open a bank account, and what do you need it for?

Maunfacturing in Chennai

The visit to Ford Chennai reinforced themes such as scale, contrast, contradiction and innovation that we have taken away from this insightful trip.
