Wellington School of Business and Government celebrates prestigious reaccreditation

The Wellington School of Business and Government (WSBG) is proud to announce the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has extended its accreditation in both business and accounting.

WSBG is part of an elite group of commerce faculties worldwide that hold the ‘Triple Crown’ of international accreditations from AACSB, European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), and the Association of MBAs (AMBA). Less than 1 percent of business schools worldwide hold this distinguished hallmark of excellence.

“We are proud to be a capital city business school that combines insights from business and government disciplines so that our graduates can be influential in society. This AACSB accreditation acknowledges the quality of our staff and education programmes,” says Professor Jane Bryson, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Wellington School of Business and Government.

AACSB accreditation is considered the highest and most reputable standard in business education. WSBG first achieved this accreditation in 2011, becoming the first university in Aotearoa New Zealand to have obtained accreditation from AACSB in both business and accounting.

In total, 901 business institutions in 58 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation. Of those institutions, only 189 hold a supplemental, specialised AACSB accreditation for their accounting programmes.

Achieving AACSB accreditation involves rigorous internal review and peer-reviewed evaluation. AACSB’s standards require excellence in areas such as strategic management and innovation, learning and teaching, and academic and professional engagement. Once an institution is accredited, it must participate in a five-year continuous improvement process to extend its accreditation.
