The NZCCRC hosted a roundtable with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on Tuesday the 11th of September. The delegation was headed by Deputy Director General Zhang Ming and wished to meet with New Zealand scholars to discuss potential cooperation with New Zealand on Belt and Road projects.  The roundtable provided a valuable opportunity to discuss BRI with the agency overseeing its implementation in China. Potential areas where New Zealand could work with China and other partners were raised and the NDRC was pleased to hear a New Zealand perspective on the initiative.

Formed in 2003, the NDRC is a central planning agency primarily tasked with formulating and implementing national strategies of economic and social development. As part of their mandate to guide and restructure the Chinese economy the Commission is currently focussed on the flagship foreign policy Belt and Road Initiative.
