Research in the conceptualization and translation of metaphor leads to prestigious publication.
Roya Jabarouti researches metaphor as a translational concept using as a case study the writings in verse and prose of the Irish Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney (1939-2013). Applying contemporary semiotic theories, Roya’s innovative and interdisciplinary study examines new strategies to deal with the cultural and contextual subsets hidden in metaphorical conceptualizations and with their translatability.
As she prepares her full proposal, Roya discusses some preliminary findings in an article soon to be published in one of the world’s leading journals of semiotics (“Semiotics of Culture and Aesthetics of Translation. A Semiotic Framework for the Translation of Conceptual Metaphors”, Signata, 7/1: Translating : Signs, Texts, Practices).
