A number of Pacific high commissioners and ambassadors, school principals and community leaders from the Wellington region and Victoria University staff and Pasifika students (including Pasifika students and members of the VUWSA), attended the launch to celebrate the initiative.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our students and it’s been an absolute pleasure working with Sanitarium to make this happen,” says Associate Professor Hon Luamanuvao Winnie Laban, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Pasifika), who spent many months working on the partnership alongside Campus Services, Scholarships and the Foundation Office.

The Sanitarium Pasifika scholarships will be open to New Zealand-based Pasifika students who are either currently enrolled full-time for a degree course at Victoria University or intending to enrol full-time for their first year of study for a degree course at Victoria, and are facing financial hardship.

Thirteen vending machines have been installed across all four of Victoria’s campuses.
