Te Kura Māori undertakes teaching and research related to Māori education, policy, and practice. These interests extend to Pasifika education and that of indigenous people. The school contributes to teacher education and support programmes through teaching, advising, and research.

Award winning Victoria designed app

A Māori language learning app, released by Victoria University of Wellington’s Te Kura Māori, based in the Wellington Faculty of Education, has won the tertiary sector award at Ngā Tohu Reo Māori 2015 (Māori Language Awards).

Te Reo Māori PLD

Te Reo Māori Professional Learning Development is a programme set up to help teachers in a Māori-medium setting build proficiency in Te Reo Māori. A blended approach to teaching and learning is at the core of the programme with emphasis on digital technology.
