[CANCELLED] Are language textbooks any use? How can tasks (TBLT) help?

In this seminar, the TBLT-SIG group (Task-based Language Teaching special interest group) at LALS introduce five ongoing TBLT research projects. All five projects are classroom-based and located in settings where mandated textbooks are used, covering Indonesia, Vietnam, New Zealand, and China. Each investigates: (1) whether and how textbook-based lessons can be rejuvenated if taught using principles from TBLT; and (2) the experience of teachers and learners in these task-based lessons and their perceptions of learning benefits. The seminar will begin with a brief overview of TBLT and the vision of the TBLT-SIG group. The group will then provide a snapshot of the research on adapting textbooks being undertaken in each project. The speakers will try and leave plenty of time for questions because we’d really appreciate your feedback.
