LED light replacement project successfully completed

The LED project, which started in 2017, is now finished, with 4500 lights replaced in hallways, offices and plant rooms across the Kelburn campus.

As a result of this project, the University is expected to reduce emissions from lighting by around 100 tonnes of CO2 per annum.

Not only are LEDs more energy efficient, they don’t need replacing as often, creating less waste. They are also easier on people’s eyes with less glare and no flickering, creating a lighter more comfortable working environment.

Now that the project has completed, Property Services is investigating how to improve further the energy efficiency of lighting systems across the University.

There are some great opportunities to reduce our energy use by using new lighting equipment and technologies, and the Property Services team will be incorporating these into new developments and maintenance projects to support the University with its emissions and waste reduction targets.
