Pritesh Chavda, the 100th student to receive the prestigious Victoria Plus Award

Congratulations SACL Pritesh Chavda, the 100th student to receive the prestigious Victoria Plus Award which is granted to students who get involved in volunteering, service and extracurricular activities.

Pritesh graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration with majors in Accounting, Commercial Law and Economics in May this year and now holds an accounting position at WHK Wellington. He attributes this success to his involvement in the Victoria Plus programme.

The programme embeds a connection and value to social responsibility and leadership which remains strong as students progress to graduate careers and postgraduate education. "I was part of the Victoria Plus Programme for over two years, and I genuinely feel that it is a valuable experience for students, and one that I will never forget," says Pritesh.

During Pritesh’s time in the programme he volunteered with Te Pūtahi Atawhai, a Māori and Pasifika mentoring programme, was a peer-to-peer tutor, and a class representative. He also gave his time as a volunteer for community events and spent a number of months at the Mary Potter Hospice Shop in a range of roles, describing these experiences as enjoyable, eye-opening, and requiring creative thinking in sometimes challenging situations.

In addition to a Victoria Plus Award, Pritesh received an award for Excellence in Accounting in 2010, Excellence in Commercial Law, a Cengage Learning Award for Excellence in ACCY 225 and a KPMG Prize for Advanced Financial Accounting ACCY 308 in 2011.
