DAY 1 - Thursday, 22 November 2012

  • 1.30 – 2.00pm Registration – Tea and coffee
  • 2.00 – 2.15pm Welcome and Opening Remarks Speakers: Professor Tony van Zijl and Professor Bob Buckle
  • 2.15 – 3.45pm Dimensions of Good Governance Speakers: John Page, Gillian Peacock and Jennifer Pelvin . This panel brings together leading-edge thinking on governance in the Not-for-Profit Sector. The issues here include paid and voluntary staff and governors, potential conflicts of interest and the fact that one size does not fit all. The examples outlined in this session are intended to provide tools to promote good governance in your organisation.
  • 3.45 – 4.15pm Afternoon Tea
  • 4.15 – 5.45pm Accountability Structures and Change Speakers: Bill Ryan, Geoff McLay and Kevin Simpkins. A number of regulatory and legal changes are currently under active consideration. These will impact many Not-for-Profit entities. Each of these expert presenters will highlight / outline the key changes in the environment.

DAY 2 Friday, 23 November 2012

  • 8.30 – 9.00am Welcome Tea and Coffee
  • 9.00 – 9.10am Welcome to the Second Day - Debs Wand
  • 9.10 – 10.30am Chair : Carolyn Cordery Reporting on the Difference we make Speakers: David Hanna, Elizabeth Tennet and Tim Fairhall. There are increasing expectations on Not-for-Profit organisations to tell their stories. This session will provide practical examples of how three quite different organisations have reported on the difference they make.
  • 10.30 – 11.00am Morning Tea
  • 11.00 – 12.30pm Organisational capability and financial sustainability – undertaking a health check Speakers: Craig Fisher and Brendon Lines. This session makes the case for an organisational health check and explains why these are increasingly important. It offers tools and resources which are available for Not-For-Profit organisations to assess and improve their organisational capability and financial sustainability.

  • 1.30 – 2.15pm Tax Policy Issues Relevant to the Not for Profit Sector Speaker: Hon Peter Dunne

  • 2.30 – 4.00pm Parallel Session - Interactive Workshops Exploring the Accountability and Funding Environments
  • 2.30 – 4.00pm    Are you ready for the new Accounting Standards? Speakers: Carolyn Cordery and Megan Thomas. This session introduces the new Accounting Standards and is your opportunity to give feedback on some issues that have challenged standard setters. Surviving and Thriving in the Changing Funding Environment  Speakers: Tina Reid and Kate Frykberg. This workshop explores the challenges and opportunities that both funders and community organisations are experiencing
