Eldon founded Inhibit Coatings in 2016 after completing his PhD under the supervision of Jim Johnston, both of them are finalists (in separate categories) in this year’s KiwiNet awards. Inhibit Coatings is underpinned by an exclusive technology that Eldon developed during his PhD, enabling them to create customised antimicrobial coatings. These are particularly useful for areas that require high levels of hygiene – such as food preparation and medical facilities. Their partnership with Polymer Group means that two products are readily available off the shelf, in the form of a wall paint and a resin for floors. They are also working with other partners to create customised antimicrobial products ranging from coatings for filters through to transport interiors.
