Profile

Cansu is a PhD student at Wellington School of Architecture, focusing on the reuse of heritage buildings in small towns in New Zealand. She has a Master on Architectural Conservation exploring the post-restoration maintenance programme of 16th century tombs in Türkiye. She is a recipient of a PhD scholarship from QuakeCoRE NZ Centre for Earthquake Resilience.

Cansu worked as a conservation architect for thirteen years in Türkiye focusing on architectural heritage conservation before starting her PhD at Victoria University of Wellington. In her professional work she has worked on different types of architectural heritage ranging from 11th century archaeological sites to 19th century civil buildings.
