Richard joined the Victoria University of Wellington department of philosophy in 2010. He gained his PhD from Princeton in 1997, and subsequently worked at the University of Sheffield (UK), the Australian National University, and the University of Sydney. Research areas

Richard works principally in metaethics, and particularly enjoys it with an empirical twist. He is interested in moral psychology, the emotions, the evolution of cooperation, evolutionary ethics, and philosophy of language.
