February is Cycle Awareness Month— time to make the most of the good weather and start cycling.
Aotearoa Bike Challenge
The Aotearoa Bike Challenge is a fun, free competition that’s all about seeing which organisations can get the most people to ride a bike for just 10 minutes or more. The Challenge runs between 1 and 28 February 2021. There are loads of prizes that you can win by cycling, logging your rides, and encouraging fellow students and colleagues. Register now and join the Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington team.

Win a double pass to The Big Bike Film Night!
Get ready to be inspired. The Big Bike Film Night is on a mission—sharing the best cycling short films from around the world and this year feature Dr John Randal! Win a double pass to a screening on Sunday 21 February, 6 pm. See the trailer here. These short films are a great reminder of why we love to ride our bikes with films that celebrate the fun, adventure and inspiration that cycling enables, whatever your ride is. Bike maintenance with Hūnuku – Community Bike Workshop
Get your bike sorted for summer at the bike workshop located in Kirk, KK121 (access via Kelburn Parade). On Wednesday 3 February there will be bike maintenance demonstrations in the Hub from 12 noon until 2 pm plus the workshop will be open for you to tinker with your bike and get advice. All welcome. If your bike hasn't been out of the garage for a while and it needs a serious service there are many options around town from a simple WOF to an extensive overhaul. Bicycle Junction and Wellington Electric Bikes have skilled bike mechanics to help with all your servicing requirements.
Cycle Skills Workshop
Join the Transport Choice Team (Greater Wellington Regional Council) for a Cycle Skills Workshop on Thursday 11 February 2021. This workshop is suitable for anyone who rides a regular bike or an eBike and wants to brush up their handling skills and learn how to navigate in traffic.

On Thursday 25 February join us between 9.30 am and 10.30 am in The Hub, meet our Aotearoa Cycle Challenge Champion, Timon Bakker, connect with other riders and share your summer cycle adventures. At 10.00 am there will be a quiz to test your cycle knowledge and win a prize. Everyone is welcome you don't need to be a cyclist to join the fun.
