P-Card initiative cuts paper use
In January 2018 the procurement team in Finance introduced the Image Module for P-Card coding, a digital way of submitting monthly P-Card documentation.
This initiative has achieved some great results to date:
- By the end of 2018, most users (1245 out of 1433) were using the online system.
- Submitting online has saved a huge amount of paper—previously there were approximately 3000 sheets of paper used each month.
- There is a lot less storage required. The team was using between eight and 12 boxes each month and this has reduced to half a box a month!
- There are now 13,000 fewer items each year going through the internal mail.
- A huge reduction in offsite storage costs and transportation to and from the University.
“The procurement team has done an excellent job of developing and implementing an initiative which has made a significant and positive difference to the University’s environmental footprint,” said Andrew Wilks, Director of the Sustainability Office. “Great job team!”
