Prepare for study

Attend workshop sessions for tips on studying, essay writing, and academic expectations.

Workshops and sessions are available online and in person before and during the trimester to help you make the most of your study. You can also get help getting set up online, or plan your courses with a course adviser from your Faculty.

UniPrep: 9–11 February 2021

If you are planning to start tertiary study, or are returning to study after a break, the Student Learning University Preparation Programme (UniPrep) offers you an opportunity to brush up skills and gain confidence before the semester begins. Some sessions are delivered in-person and some are offered by distance through Zoom—sign up via Student Learning. Topics include:

  • managing your time
  • learning how to learn
  • basic maths
  • reading and note taking
  • using the library for research
  • algebra essentials
  • academic writing
  • understanding academic integrity and referencing
  • studying maths and science effectively.

New Students' Orientation: 15–17 February 2021

Come along to one of Student Learning’s study skills or academic writing sessions to help you prepare for the start of the trimester. These sessions are offered both in-person as well as through Zoom.

myTech—student IT session

Join us for a myTech session, a great starting point to your journey through tertiary education. We cover the various learning platforms the University has available on myTools, such as myAllocator and Blackboard.

The Library

Join us for a fun and interactive quiz and get to know some of our friendly librarians. Learn more about the many different ways that the Library can help you with your studies and explore our wide range of online resources.
