Sexual harassment prevention draft policy

Consultation on the Victoria University of Wellington’s proposed stand-alone Sexual Harassment Prevention Policy and Procedures has now closed.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to make a submission, attend a forum, or otherwise contribute feedback. All feedback will now be considered.

Once finalised, the new policy and procedures will be communicated to students and staff.

Current processes

Under the University’s existing policies, sexual harassment is considered misconduct, and dealt with under the Student Conduct Statute and Staff Conduct Policy.

There is information on our website for students who have experienced sexually harmful behaviours. Our Student Interest and Conflict Resolution team is able to provide support and guidance, and assist students through the complaints process.

Staff can obtain additional help and support through their HR Contact; from the Manager, Staff Wellness; or through accessing the University’s Employee Assistance Programme.
