Fruit and vegetable co-operative
Join our fruit and vegetable co-op, volunteer with us, and enjoy fresh and affordable produce delivered to your campus each week.
Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington's fruit and vegetable co-op is a non-profit social enterprise supported by the University's wellbeing teams, Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association (VUWSA), Wesley Community Action, and Wellington Regional Public Health.
Join the co-op
For $12 a week, you will receive one bag of fruit and one of vegetables, comprising of six to eight seasonal varieties. You can order as many bags as you need, as often as you like, and you can collect your order from your preferred campus.
Once you have registered for the Co-op, order and payment information will be sent to you by email.
It is an online pre-pay system—order by 5 pm Thursday and pick up the following Thursday. If you do not have a New Zealand Bank account, please get in touch and we can arrange cash payment.
You can collect your fruit and vegetables from one of these three hubs during set times:
- Kelburn campus: 10 am–12.30 pm, The Hunter Lounge, Level 3, Student Union Building
- Pipitea campus: 10.30–11.30 am, Student Academic Services Ground Floor, Rutherford House
- Te Aro campus: 11–11.30 am, outside the Architecture and Design Library's main entrance, Level 1, Vivian Street
If you are not able to collect your order during these hours, email firstname.lastname@example.org. If your order is not collected or we don't hear from you, we are unable to store it. Orders are bought in advance, so no refunds are available.
Bring your own bags
Our co-op is now proudly plastic-bag free, with all produce packed into bags or crates. We recommend that all members bring their own bags, so they don’t need to borrow our bags. Co-op members will need to return our bags within seven days of collection. Download our returnable bag guide to find out more.
Volunteer with us
The co-op is a community and would not be possible without the support of volunteers. We use an online roster for volunteering slots. There are slots available at Kelburn, Pipitea and Te Aro campuses on Thursday mornings. We welcome staff and students, and all volunteers are eligible for Wellington Plus and Wellington International Leadership points
Some volunteers help every week, some monthly, and others just when they can. If you have any spare time in your schedule and want to help provide fresh, affordable produce to staff and students, contact us at email@example.com or sign-up using our online roster. We’d love to see you there.
