Using clear English
Clear, concise writing will help communicate a message and support your argument in your assignments. Use our guides for native and non-native English speakers.
Whether you are a native speaker or non-native speaker, you might be worried that you are sometimes unclear in your written expression. You can improve your language by:
- coming for an one-to-one appointment with a learning adviser. The adviser will look over your writing and make a list of your grammar issues, and coach you in how to write correctly.
- attending our Troubleshooting grammar and punctuation workshop.
- using the Language Learning Centre (the excellent resources at the LLC are designed to help non-native speakers with their English).
You can also browse through our many grammar and punctuation handouts for both native and non-native speakers of English.
