Get IT savvy

Learn about what digital tools and resources are available to you as students.

IT services available to you as students

There are a range of services available to you when you are a student here. Check out the range on the Digital Solutions page for students.

Your student username

As a student you will have been provided with a username to log in to various systems, including any computers on campus. Usually this is six letters from your last name followed by four letters from your first name. Your offer of study will also have this information.

Your student email address

As a student you will get a student email address. The format for this would be <username>@myvuw.ac.nz. This is the default email where you will receive notifications from the University unless you have changed it. You can forward your student emails to your personal one if you prefer. Instructions for doing this can be found on the Digital Solutions page for students emails.

Inclusive learning tools

Read&Write and EquatIO are inclusive learning tools for students for making online written and numerical information more accessible.

This software is available on all student computers. You can find the learning tools as icons on your desktop. To download the software on your own personal computer, go to the Student Software Download website.

You can also watch a quick introduction to Read&Write and EquatIO on Panopto.

Learning new programs

If you need to learn how to use new computer programs, and you have a Wellington City Library card you can access courses on LinkedIn Learning. Find out how to access this resource on the WCL blogpost.
