Most courses in the Master of Architecture programme are taught in English.

The number of courses offered in English is constantly increasing
and TUM offers more than 25 Master’s Programmes that are conducted entirely in
English.

TUM offers German language courses for international students; intensive courses are offered in the two weeks immediately before the start of lectures. A pre-study course is also available.

TUM term dates usually clash with VUW term dates which means you will be missing first a coupel of weeks of trimester 2 on your return. Please consult your lecutrer for the trimester to see if they would accept your late arrivl to the courses.

Exchange length

1 or 2 Trimesters

Course load

Full time load: 30 ECTS per semester.

1 ECTS = 2 VUW points

Exchange restrictions

The TUM semester end date clashes with the starting date for Trimester Two at Victoria. If you are planning on continuing your Architecture studies at Victoria in Trimester Two, you will need to make arrangements with your course coordinators to minimise the impact of your late arrival to the courses.

In the past, students have arranged to get the lecture notes from classmates, Blackbaord etc. while they are completing exams in Germany. You will be required to work to ensure that you are as up to date with your study as possible. There will be an expectation that you fully utilise the Victoria mid trimester 2 break for catching up.

You will also need to consult your chairs/coordinators for each TUM course you are taking and arrange to have your exam at an earlier date to minimise the amount of Trimester Two classes you will miss at Victoria.
