Bachelor of Tourism Management

The Bachelor of Tourism Management (BTM) is closed to new applicants. It was replaced by the Bachelor of Commerce in Tourism Management in 2019.

If you are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Tourism Management you can complete the degree, or transfer to the Bachelor of Commerce.

Bachelor of Tourism Management requirements

If you are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Tourism Management and intend to complete the degree, you'll need to meet the following requirements. For further information, please contact AProf Mondher Sahli, BTM Programme Director, at mondher.sahli@vuw.ac.nz

  • Complete at least 360 points, of which at least 180 points must be at 200 and 300 level. Of the 180 points, at least 75 points must be at 300 level.
  • Complete ten Tourism courses:
    • TOUR 101
    • TOUR 104
    • TOUR 108
    • TOUR 230
    • TOUR 240
    • TOUR 250
    • TOUR 320
    • Three further courses from TOUR 300–399
  • Complete three 100-level Commerce courses from:
    • Either ACCY 111 or ACCY 115 or ACCY 130
    • ECON 130
    • Either FCOM 111 or COML 111
    • Either INFO 101 or INFO 141 or INFO 151
    • MARK 101
    • MGMT 101
    • Either QUAN 102 or STAT 193
  • Complete two 200-level Commerce courses from:
    • ACCY 223
    • COML 203
    • HRER 201
    • IBUS 201
    • Either INFO 226, INFO 231 or INFO 201
    • Either MARK 203 or MARK 214
    • Either MGMT 202, MGMT 205 or MGMT 206
    • PUBL 201
    • QUAN 201
  • Complete further courses worth 90 points from:
    • Courses listed for the Bachelor of Tourism Management or the Bachelor of Commerce, or
    • Courses listed for the subjects Asian Studies, Chinese, Cultural Anthropology, Environmental Studies, French, Geography, German, History, Italian, Japanese, Māori Studies, New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Studies, Pacific Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Samoan Studies / Fa'asamoa, and Spanish.
    • Of the 90 points at least 15 points must be at 200 or 300 level.
