Trends in Employment Agreements & Employment Law Update 2018/2019 Seminars

The Centre for Labour, Employment and Work of Victoria University of Wellington will present annual seminars in July / August 2019.

The Trends in Employment Agreements and Employment Law Update seminars provide participants with a comprehensive overview of bargaining and case law developments over the last 12 months.

The seminar series has established a reputation as the definitive source of practitioner-focused information on current employment relations practices in New Zealand and the accompanying book which includes analysis of employment agreements provisions at sector and industry level, is an essential reference for those involved in bargaining.

Dr Stephen Blumenfed, Director of CLEW, presents the latest development in collective agreements and looks at the trends on collective agreement provisions over the last few years. Well-known and respected Auckland employment lawyer, Peter Kiely, discusses the most interesting and key employment law cases over the last twelve months as well as an update on the developments in legislation. The Employment Court of New Zealand Judges will chair the seminars in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

We will also be offering at least two webinars following the success of our trial in this format in 2018.

The seminars presented by way of webinar are the same as those presented in person but without the advantage of interacting and discussing with your fellow attendees. The time allowed is as per the 'in-person' sessions but the webinar is likely to be slightly shorter because of the reduced discussion. The webinars are limited to 30 people per session and we may add a third session if demand is sufficient.

Book order and purchase

If you are unable to attend the seminar the accompanying book can be purchased by completing the order form below and sending it to CLEW OR if you wish to pay by credit card go to our payment portal which also acts as an order form. You must enter an email address in the ‘Customer Details’ screen to ensure you receive a receipt for your payment. The book costs $155 and will be available in late July, in time for our seminars in the South Island.  We have a limited supply of last years books still available which can be ordered on the same form.
