On 1 and 2 November, Victoria University (Vice-Provost (Academic) together with the School of Languages and Cultures), Future Learning Solutions and UniServices hosted ‘Teach for success with TPRS’, a two-day workshop with the creator of the method, Blaine Ray. Over 40 language teachers from all over New Zealand gathered to have a taste of Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS), a successful second language teaching method which uses interactive stories to create an atmosphere of immersion in the classroom. The workshop ended with a round table where concrete experiences of implementation of TPRS in New Zealand were presented and discussed.
